Advanced Cardiac Life Support
The American Heart Association's (AHA) ACLS Course builds upon foundational BLS skills, emphasizing high-quality CPR and incorporating the latest updates from the AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
This course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of:
• Cardiopulmonary arrest
• Cardiovascular emergencies
What You Will Learn:
BLS Skills Review:
- High Quality chest compressions
- Effective ventilation techniques
- AED/Defibrillator use
Recognition and Early Management of:
Respiratory and cardiac arrest
Pre-arrest conditions, such as symptomatic bradycardia or tachycardia
Airway management techniques
Pharmacology related to ACLS protocols
Management of cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, and strokes
Effective communication and leadership within a resuscitation team
Course Requirements:
Active participation is required to complete this course.

**If your BLS card is expired or will expire by the class date, follow the instructions below under "BLS Portion." A valid BLS card is required to receive your ACLS certification.
Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work:
- Complete the FREE Precourse Self-Assessment online:

- Score 70% or higher (you can retake the test multiple times as needed)
Documentation to Bring to Class:
- Copies of up to date BLS card and if renewal up to date ACLS card
- Self-assessment completion papers

Is your BLS certification expired or nearing expiration? Here's how to update it:
Complete the HeartCode BLS online course through the AHA:
https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls
Print and bring your completion certificate to class.
During your ACLS session, we will perform a skills check.
Once complete, a new BLS Provider Card will be issued.
Important:
Without a valid BLS card, you cannot receive an ACLS card.
A discounted additional fee applies for the BLS skills check.
